We are looking for a Music & Drama Teacher in a school which offers comprehensive CPD, exciting development opportunities and good promotion prospects for our teachers.  Ealing Fields High School is a specialist music school within a Trust which places a very strong emphasis on Music and performance. The school has a high expectation of whole school singing as part of its ethos well as having an exceptional range of more specialised choirs and instrumental ensembles. The successful candidate will join the Heads of Music and Drama and over 10 peripatetic teachers.

 

This is an excellent role for an enthusiastic ECT teacher who is a confident vocalist and has the ability to work flexibly across a range of genres within the extra-curricular programme. As a member of a Church of England Trust, the school also sees Music as providing an essential strand of SMSC and plays an important role in assemblies and whole-school events.  The growing musical life of Ealing Fields means the role will ‘major’ on Music and be line managed by the Head of Music.  However, the right candidate will enjoy teaching both subjects and work closely with our excellent Head of Drama to ensure excellent outcomes.

 

The school’s ethos statement encourages all students to recognise their gifts and use them in service of others; to be reflective in noticing areas of improvement and humble in accepting support; finally, to engage fully and stretch.  Music is at the heart of this ethos because of the model it offers of individual gifts being developed and offered joyously – often in concert with others!  We therefore encourage music as an integrated part of the life of our school communities.  All students have singing lessons in years 7 and 8, and sing in assemblies together.  This is maintained through termly communion services in the upper years. All students are also encouraged to take up a musical instrument and all schools have a team of peripatetic teachers to make this a possibility.  Music is also used to encourage confidence and pride in performance – with students playing in all assemblies as well as in concerts and competitions.  This has also helped the school build a culture of attentive and appreciative listening.  A strong candidate would be a confident singer and a competent pianist, although a strong teacher without strong piano skills would be considered.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for the subject of Drama and will have the ability to motivate students and deliver engaging and enjoyable lessons. The school is passionate about the place of Drama in the wider curriculum and produces a whole school production/musical each year. This is an exciting opportunity for a diligent individual who can join our school production team.

 

Ealing Fields works collaboratively with all of the other schools within the Trust – in particularly with our sister school, Twyford CE High School, which has a very strong reputation for Music and serves as a hub for Music within the Trust.  Ealing Fields admits 10% of students in Year 7 based on musical aptitude, which helps to boost the levels of performance and musical engagement.

Ealing Fields High School, Ealing

Ealing Fields High School was opened as a Free School in 2016, and became part of the Twyford CE Academies Trust on 1st September 2017.  Ealing Fields is the smallest of the Trust schools, with only 120 in each Year Group and therefore has a very compact community identity.  The school now has five Year Groups (7 - 11) totalling 600 students, and the staff community, though still small, is very positive and highly motivated.  The school moved to its brand new permanent site in Northfields in September 2020.. 

 

The Twyford Trust

The Twyford Trust comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing.  The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community.  The Twyford Trust aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting, and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well.  Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the Trust is the overarching organisation which provides support for all Trust schools.  The Trust has a highly evolved common curriculum which has been devised by staff within the four schools.
