International charity Christian Aid celebrated it's 80th anniversary last week.
In 1965, hymn writer Sydney Carter was asked to write a song to mark the 20th anniversary of international development agency Christian Aid. And so When I Needed a Neighbour was born.
Sixty years on, the hymn has been re-imagined with the help of Rev Ally Barrett who has written new lyrics reflecting issues in the world today. The 2025 version - with an arrangement by Marsha Morrison and Marc Morrison from The Kingdom Choir - was performed at Christian Aid's 80th anniversary service at Westminster Abbey, alongside Twyford High School's Sacred gospel choir.
